Swim with Dolphins

Dolphins are magnificent, graceful and intelligent animals.  They are also very curious and playful.  Interacting with Dolphins is a life changing experience for some people and certainly a moving experience for others.  And, the Dolphins seem to really enjoy encounters with people too!  

There are a number swim with dolphins facilities in the US and other countries, particularly in areas frequented by tourists.  Most of these facilities take good care of their dolphin residents, so be sure to support those that do.   We care very much for these fantastic creatures and expect them to be well treated.

Dolphin swim encounters usually involve introducing a limited group of people into the water with a trained dolphin.   The swim area may be man-made or an enclosed area of sea.  Many encounters last from 15 minutes to 1/2 hour.  The session may involve touching, kissing(!), swimming and up close performances that demonstrate their power, speed and grace.

One quickly wonders who is enjoying the interaction more - the people or the dolphins!  Trainers encourage the playful and curious dolphins to stay with the "script", but these independent beings sometimes have other ideas and the session can turn comical.
